Introducing Barbara Forbes – Featured Speaker
How long have you been using PowerShell? What got you started?
I started using PowerShell when I started out at the service desk. I wrote simple one liners to reset passwords or work with Exchange. I wrote my first script as a system administrator, a monitoring script to check if DFSR was working. That was about seven years ago.
Whats the favourite thing you have done with PowerShell?
Now that is hard to choose from! Looking at the last year, one of the things I like is when I’m working with infra as code, PowerShell is almost always the tool that can fill in the gaps where other tools have trouble. In a lot of my pipelines, PowerShell plays a role. Even if it is not needed for the infra, PowerShell plays a role in testing.
Have you ever been to PsConfEU before? What do you know about it?
I have never had the pleasure! 😮
I was supposed to be a speaker in 2020, which ended up going virtual (and I still did a session). I have heard the stories though, so I’m very excited
How has PowerShell impacted your career?
A lot! The benefits of PowerShell were always very visible. It was important when working as a system administrator, as I could save time and create a consistent environment. It’s important when working as a consultant, as companies will specifically request PowerShell skills.
It’s not just fun and games, knowing PowerShell can really make a difference.
Thank you so much Barbara, we are looking forward to seeing you next year in Vienna
